C. John Wilder

C. John Wilder is the Executive Chairman and member of the Investment Committee of three investment vehicles: (i) Bluescape Resources Company; (ii) Parallel Resource Partners; (iii) and Bluescape Energy Partners.
Wilder is also the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bluescape Opportunities Acquisition Corp. (NYSE: BOAC), a special purpose acquisition company sponsored by Bluescape.

Wilder also serves as Chairman of the Board and Director on several portfolio companies of Bluescape.

Wilder also served as Director of NRG Energy (NSYE: NRG) and served as Chairman of the NRG Business Review Committee that was responsible for a full scale performance review and strategic repositioning of NRG that resulted in significant value creation. During more than ten years as a private investor, Wilder has executed 25 major private equity investments totaling $1.7 billion of risk equity across three institutional platforms. As Executive Chairman of Bluescape Energy Partners, Wilder led more than $500 million of transactions across 10 investments in both the E&P and Power spaces. As Executive Chairman of Bluescape Resources Company and Parallel Resource Partners, Wilder led 15 major private equity investments totaling $1.2 billion of risk capital.

Throughout his institutional investing career, Wilder has consistently assembled high quality investment teams capable of creating substantial value through in–depth knowledge of global energy markets and long term relationships. Wilder has also consistently implemented disciplined investment decision making and top quality management processes and has employed active portfolio management with the ability to step in and operate any portfolio company.

Wilder started in the energy business in Texas almost 40 years ago with the Royal Dutch/Shell Group, where he rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Shell Capital in London. As Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer at TXU Corp., Wilder directed a total financial and operational overhaul that transformed one of the largest energy companies over a four year period from a bottom quartile performer to a competitive, high performance industrial enterprise. For his achievements at TXU, the Harvard Business Review named Wilder twice as one of the Best Performing CEOs in the World, ranking 24th among 2,000 CEOs from publicly traded companies in 33 countries in 2010 and 74th among 3,143 CEOs, from publicly traded companies in 50+ countries in 2013. The publication honored no other United States’ power company executive in either of these rankings. Institutional Investor named Wilder as one of the Ten Best CEOs in America in 2004 and Best CEO and CFO in the Electric Power Sector in all the years he was in the power industry.

Wilder earned a Master’s in Business Administration from The University of Texas and he graduated magna cum laude from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, also receiving the university’s Distinguished Alumni Award. Wilder is on the advisory boards of the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. Wilder is also a Trustee of Texas Health Resources and is a past member of the National Petroleum Council, a U.S. Secretary of Energy Appointment.
